When you own such a beautiful collection of pens it seems such a shame to hide them away when you're not using them. Thankfully the talented Mike Dudek, of ClickyPost, has created a line of handmade pen stands that puts an end to this in a stylish way.
I've been a fan of Mike's work for a long time, his blog was one that inspired me to start The Desk of Adam, and his pen stands have been on the top of my wish list for a long time so when he got in touch it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down.
All of the Dudek Modern Goods pen stands are hand crafted to order from solid blocks of walnut. There is currently a line of 4 designs in his store but he's brilliant at making peoples ideas come to fruition, the custom models he's showcased on his Instagram account look amazing! He has also partnered up with other brands to offer some unique pieces, most recently a collaboration with Nock Co. to create the 'Idea Dock'.
I decided to go for the 'Display' model (RRP $65). With space for 5 pens, as standard, it truly showcases pens in a brilliant way and because I don't have such a large fountain pen collection it's be perfect for me. The unique design is truly beautiful and is a great addition to my workspace. Pen holes on all Dudek products can be customised to be any size you require. As standard they are 1/2" but to accommodate any larger fountain pens I may add to my arsenal we went for 5/8" holes. Behind the pen holes is a slot which is designed to hold 3 pocket notebooks, although I have recently been making use of that space to house my Kindle Paperwhite when not being used and as you'll see from the photo's it is a perfect fit!
Not only has my new 'Display' been a beautiful thing to look at in my workspace it has encouraged me to rotate my fountain pens more often, having them on display in such a way I have found myself switching between the bunch and putting them all to use, which is a great thing! There's nothing worse than having a great set of pen's going unused.
The workmanship that goes into these pen stands is outstanding. Everything is there, quality, durability and design. His supply of walnut comes from a wood shop local to Mike, so supporting Dudek Modern Good's is also supporting small business which I'm all about! It's clear Mike puts his heart and soul into each piece, creating something wonderful to sit on anybody's desk!
If you're interested in picking up a model for yourself you can head over to the store by clicking here, there you'll also find Mike's contact info as well as at the bottom of this post if you're interested in a custom design!
You may have noticed in the pictures that I have two 'Display' pen stands and that's because Mike was super generous and offered to send me a second model to give away! I'm also going to do something a little different with this giveaway. Usually my giveaway's are international as I want to give everyone an opportunity to experience great products, but seeing as these wonderful creations came all the way from the states I thought it would be an excellent idea to have a UK only giveaway! For the first time I'd love to let someone else in my country enjoy the craftsmanship that goes into these pen stands. Apologies to anyone worldwide who wanted a piece of the action but fear not as Mike has been known to have a very giving nature! Did I mention he also included Doane Paper utility notebook for the winner? I will also be throwing in a couple of notebooks to help fill up the winner's new 'Display'! I have recently written a review of Doane Paper products, which can be found here!
