Say Nice Things Curtis Journal Review

I must admit, this blog seems to be slowly transforming into a notebook blog with the last few posts. But when the UK brand 'Say Nice Things' got in touch about their new line of paper products I couldn't resist!

Both their journals and standard notebooks are available in a range of masculine and feminine designs to suit different tastes. Today I have the 'Curtis' journal to share with you, a black soft touch hard cover notebook with a screen print polka dot design. That is a mouthful.

The first thing to note is the construction, it feels incredibly sturdy. All of SNT's products are designed and manufactured in the UK and its apparent they put effort into the quality of materials they use. Let's run through the specs.

  • A5 hard black Peltouch extreme soft finish cover with gloss and single colour screen print
  • 192 pages of 90gsm paper
  • Stitch bound, lay-flat spine
  • Elastic closure
  • Rear inside pocket

The journal is split up into 6 sections. When opening the notebook you're greeted with a title page to fill in with your personal details, then a contents page to title each section. Sections 1 through 4 are for notes, all lined pages. Section 5 is perfect for sketch/doodles with a mix of plain pages and a grid style ruling. Finally you have a planner section with an undated monthly layout, enough to plan for a year!

How this journal is set up is what initially got me excited. Back when I used to use Filofax planners I was attracted to being able to have different elements all in one place, having a notebook with a built in planner section is a great productivity tool.

I was quite pleased with the paper quality too, the notes sections have a subtle grey tone to them. They have a nice thickness for daily use but I wouldn't recommend it for heavy fountain pen users. If you're a gel/ball pen or pencil user then you'll really enjoy the writing experience of this.

Overall I love the design of the cover, it looks great and feels even better. Out of the 3 more 'masculine' designs they have, I'm pleased with my pick. The glossy polka dot screen printing really works nicely and how could I not be a fan of the blue accent? They couldn't have picked a better colour!

One last thing to mention is how much care and thought went into the packaging this came in, although you only get that first unboxing experience once it is a nice touch. The journal came wrapped in tissue inside a perfectly sized box. Which makes giving this as a gift even easier!

These journals retail for £25 (approx. $32), check out all of the available designs here.
As I mentioned earlier, they also have a range of notebooks. These come in the same cover designs as their journals but are a little thinner and are half the price coming in at £12.50 (approx. $16). You can find those here.

The folks at 'Say Nice Things' have reduced the prices of their paper products to make them more accessible! Journals (featured in this post) now retail for £14.99 (approx. $19) and their notebooks now retail £7.99 (approx. $10).

Big thanks to the team at 'Say Nice Things' for sending me a journal to try!

Thanks for reading!
